Smart tourism development requires
competent leaders in order to create community participation from the community
and collaboration among network partners for driving tourism promotion
activities to promote tourism. This article was reviewed the concept of smart
tourism and, leadership competencyies for to promote smart tourism promotion
and presenting proposed guidelines for developing leadership competencies to
promote smart tourism. The development success of smart tourism to be
successful requireslies on the development of key competent leadership
competencies, comprising to haveopportunity competency, relational competency,
conceptual competency, management competency, strategic competency, commitment
competency, and supportive competency. In order to develop leadership competencies
to promote smart tourism, a variety of human resource development approaches
should be adopted, focusing on enabling tourism community leaders to drive
activities, and relying on information technology to use insupport tourism
operations.
