The media is regarded as one of the most important roles in society. By
mainly reporting news that occur in the society for the public immediately,
based on accuracy and impartiality. The reporting news under crisis situation
must prepare before reporting news. In order to communicate to the public to
not be panic with the events that are happening. However, with the emerge of
new media, news reporting becomes easier and will affect the traditional media
that must compete with new media based on timeliness. However, the media must have
a primary duty to set the agenda for the crisis news to be clear on what issues
should be presented or should not be present to reduce panic to the audience.
Also, information must be screened to be accurate before presenting. The
advantage of the traditional media is reliability. Therefore, news reports
should be selected based on accuracy first and foremost. Because whenever the
traditional media tries to compete with the new media the mistakes in news
reporting can be reduce the credibility of the traditional media and may result
in the crisis that is worse because of the news reporting.
